Food Adventures

As I'm sure you are well aware, the food here is unlike anywhere else. And I already know that I am really going to miss the food here when I return home to the states in June! Yep, already thinking about that. But while I'm here, in order to remember where I went and what I liked, should I ever return, and to give you suggestions when/if you travel here (and maybe a twinge of jealously while I am here heehee) my food adventures will be listed below, with pictures of course.

Le Bariole

Located on 103 Rue de Belleville in the 19th arrondissement, this adorable café is where I've already had multiple meals. Everything that I have tried has been absolutely delicious and I highly recommend it. Here are a few pictures of the food and drinks.

Brioche Toastée- smoked salmon and cheese on a toasted piece of bread and underneath a layer of spinach lettuce. I have had it three times already! It is quite delicious.

I have also tried the Raviole dish that they have- equally delicious! It's a perfect appetizer size. Very rich and creamy. LOVE IT.

(don't quite have a picture of it yet.. sorry!)

And finally, the last time we went, Tayler ordered the hot camembert. It was essentially fries with cheese dip. But elegant and french style. It was an entire box of camembert cheese which was put in the oven for a short amount of time and came with some potatoes (large cut fries) and a small side bowl of salad. Even though it's listed as a main course ("entrée"), it's easily the perfect thing to split with two or three other friends as an appetizer. Absolutely delicious. Also great to put on the bread that comes with every meal!

Helmut Newcake

I owe this great find to my lovely roommate. She is extremely allergic to gluten so she found a few different gluten free bakeries around Paris but until now, haven't had to time to go visit. Today was the first day they were open after their summer vacation and it was crazy busy today. But still very delicious! Everything in their kitchen is 100% gluten free. And you cannot tell at all! Their plate of the day was grilled salmon with a curry type sauce, with rice and hard boiled egg. WOW.

It truly has been one of my favorite meals since I've been here and I didn't even think twice that it did not have any gluten in it. Even more so for the dessert that we had... Somehow I made this choice out of all the many, many options that they had available. Below is a picture of the "choco marron" that I somehow fit in my stomach! And of course a café with it.

There's nothing more to say then: YUM. Can't wait to go back and try their other pastries and gluten free desserts.
