Dominique's Kitchen

Below you will find pictures and descriptions of the delicious dinners that my sweet host mother, Dominique Colombani, makes for Tayler and I. They are probably some of the most delicious meals I have ever had. My only regret is that I have not started this page earlier!

Mediterranean Cuisine

For dinner we had a Mediterranean cuisine- some sautéed vegetables with meat and a side salad (or salsa as we would call it in Texas) made with fresh corn, peppers, cheese, and red onions, mixed with her homemade vinaigrette. SO TASTY. Oh, and of course a baguette.

Classic French

Tonight's meal consisted of the staples- some meat, carbs, fruit and a salad of vegetables. We had roasted pork tonight alongside some sweet potatoes. And surprise- no brown sugar with the potatoes! I actually thought they were cooked carrots until I bit into it and realized it was actually sweet potatoes :) still tasty! The plantains were also quite tasty and were a nice side dish to the meat and potatoes. The salad was of course delicious. It included lima beans, chopped potato pieces, carrots, peas, and artichokes. Yum! My nutritionist mother I'm sure is happy to see that I hit all parts of the food pyramid in my dishes :) Dessert was fresh and delicious cantaloupe. And to be honest, I do not like cantaloupe in the states, but here it is so fresh and juicy!

Tuna Salad

I actually have never had tuna salad before, and I probably will never have tuna salad like this again! It was not like the tuna salad that I have seen in the states, but rather had many more goodies inside! I don't know what all was in it... but here's a picture! It was very tasty. And I was nervous about trying it, but it was quite delicious :)

Of course a salad (verte) with a little bit of vinegar and olive oil as the dressing. Simple and perfect.

The wonderful chef! Madame Dominique with her awesome apron.

and obviously rice... YUM.

And really delicious mashed potatoes. Mashed potatoes mixed with olive oil, butter, and a dash of dill!

All in all, a great meal, as always :)
